Gather your aluminum blankets and your sacred books, it’s Y2K pt II. Except this time, we’re not scared that computer applications won’t be able to read the 00 and therefore all life will be erased from the earth’s hard drive. No no, this is no small-time Wells Fargo glitch. This time around, one of many things will occur: the sun will enter its 24th solar maxim cycle and emit huge coronal mass ejections towards the earth, the bees will become extinct and without them we can’t live for more than four years, great buildings aligned with the stars will fall out of alignment, the third world war will devastate humanity, and so on and so forth…

The Mayan calendar is blank for 2012, but shows life again in 2013. Does that mean the earth and the heavens will renew themselves on December 21 (or 23rd depending on who you’re talking to), 2012, and prepare to hold new life in the following years? Maybe not even in “human” form..?

Will the world actually end, or does 2012 indicate some other significant shift? For example, maybe the U.S. empire will collapse. Or the glaciers will melt, the oceans will swell, and half of the earth’s land will be under water. (Were you on vacation when a tornado hit brooklyn?)

Are we simply afraid that our current spiral downward has no end? Because it is looking pretty dire (for anyone whose parents aren’t in the illuminati).

Is it just me, or is Obama is looking more saviour-like everyday…

would jesus have gotten a relaxer?

would jesus have gotten a relaxer?

But now is not the time for hope references. We’re talking about the world’s end here.

Personally, I have a love/hate relationship with this preoccupation with the year 2012. On one hand, I’m delighted and impressed with the breadth of the public imagination. That we can conceive of remarkably diverse (and sometimes outlandish) possibilities for what lies ahead excites me. It suggests that we do have the capacity in our shared consciousness to think up and believe potentially brilliant realities for our future. We need to have that kind of imagination when thinking about race, gender, politics…

On the other hand, I’m starting to think that we will speak The Apocalypse into existence. With so many people perpetuating this idea that we are going to end, the universe is bound to respond. We might mess around and chant down babylon wall of jericho style without even knowing it.

That being said, I don’t buy it. I’m just not sold. (My small tribute to capitalism). That is not to say that I don’t see the gradual decay of a planet, and of humankind (although that is nothing unusual. The earth has witnessed a history of cyclical violence. Before Bush, there was Hitler, African enslavement worldwide, The Great Depression, Tuskegee experiment, etc. It has been unbearable before, and in ways much more real than most people’s middle class complacency suggests. Not to mention, empires have fallen before.). I do see these things. But I’m not willing to submit to believing that everything is going to vanish in four years when the earth shoots off through a black hole into a another galaxy and hits a dinosaur on the head. That’d either result in a depressing indifference to the everyday things that once made me gleam with joy or a rash carelessness in my life decisions, all while claiming “well, I’ve only got four years to live anyway!”

I guess all we can do now is hope the big wigs don’t get a hold of the stagnant fear and use this opportunity to lead us all into the meat lockers.

There are many key elements that direct a person to what and who the beast and its mark is. One element is an image is made that people bow down to and worship and another is it has a name. Bio-chips, social security numbers, government brandings, and other concoctions do not fit. If you take the number 666 and write it in the Hebrew numbering system using letters you come up with vstr, or vav samech tav resh. Vav is a prefix while the root str means secret or hidden. If you then look up the symbols of the letters they are nail, prop, cross, and head, and mean nail, prop, mark or sign, and head or leader. If you put these together it is the crucifix, the image of the beast. If you then take the name of the image, jesus, and add it up it comes to 616. The True Messiah warned that if another came in his own name he would be accepted, and he said many will come saying they are him. He gave us the tools to figure out who this deceiver would be and said that he would sit in the temple of God making himself out to be God and that the whole world would be deceived.
